Listen
As I was preparing dinner last night for my children, I heard these words, "if we listen, He will allow us to tap into it." Then, I saw a mental picture of a rotary lock. You know the locks we used in school for our lockers? Let me tell you, I was never able to use those rotary locks, I couldn't ever get them to open! So, I preferred the locks with the key, they were more easy & convenient.
Have you ever watched a movie where someone is using a stethoscope to crack into a safe? Most of the time, it's a bank robber or thief, trying to take something that does not belong to him. Once he heard the clicks, he was able redirect the rotor in the appropriate direction to crack open the safe to retrieve the goods that did not belong to him. Hmmmm.
John 10:10a "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;"
I want you to think about the Word of God, then your life, desires, dreams, goals etc. When is the last time, you put your spiritual stethoscope to the Word of God, a safe place, to listen for the click of His voice which reveals what He has in store for you? Not only that, but to get fortified and strengthened? Every day, we are tried by fire, and sometimes it doesn't feel good. So we need this time with God, because in His presence there is fullness of joy, and the joy of the Lord is our strength, would you agree?
John 10:10b "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
So, back to the thief, he takes time to study the safe, which is you, he is silent and patient as he listens for the clicks, the words you say, the way you think and respond, he watches you to see how you respond to certain things, he sits in silence because he doesn't want you to know that he is there, and he waits patiently for you to give up and give in, so that he can rob you!
Now, back to God's word, His word reinforces and fortifies us which makes us stronger and prevents us from cracking when the enemy comes. When the enemy comes to "steal," we should be watchful, of course, but He should not hear a grumble or complaint because we have put our trust and faith so far in God that the enemy can only hear the sound of his own defeat! God wants us to "have life, and have it to the full." That means operating with all that God has given to us, even to the point of overflow!
A safe is defined at a strongbox where valuables can be safely kept. Ok so God's Word is a safe, and we are a safe because we are "treasures in earthen vessels," (2 Corinthians 4:7) Let's guard ourselves with the word, so that our valuables will be available at the appropriate time.
Let's listen to God, so that we can tap into 'it.' It being the very thing that you need, RIGHT NOW to be fortified & strengthened for the work that He has for you to do. Listen, because God is speaking.
