My name is _____ and I am a nonconformist

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2, KJV)

A nonconformist is defined as one who does not conform to, or refuses to be bound by, accepted beliefs, customs, or practices.

So, you and I have made a decision to follow God’s ways rather than the world’s ways. What I enjoy most about being a nonconformist, is that the more I renew my mind, the more my purpose is revealed, the more my purpose is revealed the more focused I become in directing my thoughts and actions so that they may be good, and acceptable, and perfect according to the will of God. Yes, Lord!

The world is full of everything that it is full of; you know what I am talking about. We lived our life according to it at one point, which meant we, feared on point, worried on point, stressed on point, conformed on point, experienced anxiety on point, you get the point? But praise be to God, that we now live according to His word and because we have decided to do so, we are being transformed each day into the image of Jesus. I want to look like Jesus, I want my light to shine, I want my responses to be godly, and when God looks down, I want Him to see His image when He looks at me.

Short testimony
I remember a time in my life when I didn’t look at myself in the mirror for over a month, I hadn’t yet received Christ, but there was something about my reflection that I didn’t want to see. Looking back, I think it was a subconscious awareness that I wasn’t really who I was trying to be. Ladies you know that we are constantly checking ourselves in the mirror, but during that season, I refused. But now, that I have a relationship with God and reading His word, I can look in the mirror and smile, and He smiles back, more and more everyday! Hallelujah!

I leave you with the same scripture, different translation and a word of encouragement that you continue to let the Word work in your life today!

Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect (Romans 12:2, NLT)

Believe, Love, Obey God
