Let it die
On my lunch break today, I perused the downtown area of my city. There is something about the atmosphere of growth, productivity and purpose that is appealing and energizing to me.
As I wrapped up my lunch hour, I committed to running an errand. On my way back to my car, I glanced downward to see this bush that had one flower blooming on it (see below). I heard these words “although some things are dying off, YOU can still live.”
I had to take a picture of this so you could see it.
How many of us are experiencing a season where we are being separated or detached from situations, ‘things’ or people that we thought we needed to live or survive? In all honesty, this has been my experience over the last few months. But in this season, I have learned that in order for me to succeed and grow spiritually, some things have to die, perhaps it’s a connection to someone you thought would be there forever, a favorite shirt, a car, a job, a letter filled with words that make you feel good, a pair of shoes (ouch!), things of the past, etc,.
Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
How do we know, unless we let go of 'something' we hold dear or have placed all of our trust in, the GREATER things that God has in store for us?
Jeremiah 29:11 ESV "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
What should we be letting go of? Perhaps it’s FEAR that we can’t make it, perhaps it’s the feeling of being REJECTED, maybe we have allowed HESITATION or PROCRASTINATION to grip us and hinder us from moving or advancing forward in a particular area of our life....hmmmmmm. Let it go, whatever it is. You know.
I just feel that we must be willing to LET GO IN ORDER TO GROW. It may seem hard, but it only seems that way. It's possible.
2 Corinthians 12:8-9 ESV "Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
I wonder what would happen right now if, we would just look at this picture and get a true idea of what God is willing to do for us just now.
John 8:32 ESV "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Right now I feel that this picture symbolizes that no matter how cold or distant people, situations or things become, I, YOU, WE can make it. This pretty little flower is. Think about it.
Although some things, well most things around this flower have died, that ONE flower represents the endless possibilites for success in our lives once we make a decision to rest in the Lord and put our TRUST completely in Him, not in our strength, not in what we want, but what HE wants for us.
At this point, I am willing to RELEASE things, especially if that is what God desires for me. Carrying too many of the wrong things in our spirit, body & soul eventually gets weighty and affects our ability to walk upright.
Matthew 11:28-30 ESV "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
It is my desire to experience life whole, happy, healthy and full of LIFE!

John 15:1-27 ESV
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. ...

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Thank you for speaking to each of our lives. We open our hearts, minds, and souls to you right now. Help us to release what we must so that we may live and grow so that we may flourish in every area. AMEN
