Can words build?

That is the question that dropped in my spirit, it has floated around there for two days now and I recognized that it had a purpose for showing up. I accepted the fact that these three words were purpose filled and would not benefit me or you if I just allowed them to float around in my spirit another day, so I sat down to type so that their intent could be released and together we could explore the benefit of them to our lives.

Even now, as I type I wait, I wait for the Giver of all good gifts and perfect gifts to speak that in which He desires for us to know….

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Out of God’s spirit, He spoke words. They were not weightless or empty words rather carefully spoken to bring forth what God desired to create. The results of His words can be seen and experienced by us today. We can look around us and we see the God’s creations. The word of God tells us in Genesis 1:31 that “And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good…” So everything that God made, everything that He spoke into existences, with words, was good. It was of high quality, excellent, right, proper, fit as some dictionaries would say to us.

What words do we speak when we have situations in our lives that appear broken?

What words do we speak when we encounter someone who has a broken heart?

What words do we speak when dreams become broken or shattered?

What words do we speak when we encounter someone what has been a constant recipient of broken promises?

What words do we speak to those who have received a report that states that their good health is broken?

What words do we speak to those who have had or are close to having a nervous breakdown?

Do we speak empty, weightless words? Do we speak words at all? Do we speak words like Job's friends did when he was going through? Do we speak words that tear down? Do we speak without thinking? Do we speak foolishly? Do we speak just to hear ourselves speak? Do we speak out of our flesh? Do we speak what man speaks? Do we speak doubtfully? Do we speak negatively about the situation therefore increasing the strength of the negative impact it has on our lives or the lives of others?

We have a choice.

We have a choice to speak words that tear down or build up.

Do we recognize the situations above as opportunities to speak words that build? God’s Word builds, it constructs, it forms, it shapes, it creates, it fashions, it strengthens, it fortifies, it repairs, it does so many awesome things to establish and restore good things back to good status even after they have been broken. The length of time doesn’t matter because God is able.

Yes! God is able to repair; after all, He is the repairer of the breach. Because His spirit is in us, we too can repair breaches, look at what Isaiah 58:12 says “And they from among you shall build the old waste places: you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of streets to dwell in.” Do we recognize that, because God’s creative spirit dwells within us we can speak words that restore order to the very things that God saw as “very good,” when He created it. The responsibility to do this is not time consuming but vital to the Kingdom of God. Every joint is to supply and it is up to us to work together to make sure that this happens. Our words, acts and deeds must reflect God at all times. There are countless benefits to our being obedient and selfless when we see our brothers and/or sisters going through. Speak God’s word into their lives and circumstances and watch how the Word will build them up. They will be fit for the Master’s use. God is able to do it through you. Speak God; Speak the Word because God’s Word can build.

So, after all of that, I simply replace the word ‘words’ with God for the title of this blog.

The title now becomes “Can God Build?”

And your answer is????

Believe, Love & Obey God.

  1. You know what, Tanika? You are right; sometimes we speak - I know I've realized that I've done it - just to hear ourselves speak. And in those moments we can speak such destruction, only to regret it later; to realize that it was not worth it. I'm learning a lot about words.
