Who is leading you?
It is so important that we make ourselves available to hear from God.
There are many things that try to distract and prevent us from doing just this. Hearing from God is important, how else will we know which way to go in life?
There are places called holiness and righteousness that we should be striving to get to. Along the way there, we may encounter some obstacles, hindrances, detours, roadblocks, but if we use our navigation system, the word of God, we can make it through all of this. God’s word warns, instructs, directs, uplifts, builds and tears down things (and much more). David proclaims in Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” It’s the same for us, if we allow it to be. “God is our navigator; He “plans, records, and controls our course and position (Definition of navigator).” Whatever He decides to do, it is meant to help us reach this destination to holiness and righteousness.
Once we arrive, if we will operate in and share all that we have learned along the way, to direct others to the place of holiness and righteousness, there is a greater chance that they will arrive quicker to holiness and righteousness. A natural example of this would be, someone traveling to Durham from Raleigh, if I have traveled the route that you planned to take, I am going to be able to tell you what to expect, the best time to travel, quality of the roads, etc., With this information in hand, you are prepared and can make wise travel decisions. We are less likely to get lost, caught in traffic, or travel at the time when the construction crew has 3 of the four lanes blocked that you are traveling on. Because truly, if we run into these type issues, we may get discouraged and begin to look for the nearest exit to go back, and prematurely cancel your travel plans and miss whatever you were supposed to be participating in.
So, the question we must ask ourselves is who or what are we allowing to lead us? Are we ending up closer or further away from the place of holiness and righteousness? If not, why? Once we answer the why, we can begin the removal process of those things from our lives, or if we feel we aren’t strong enough to do it, ask God to help us.
We can’t lead ourselves. The word of God states “A man's heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.”
Psalm 119:105 (KJV) "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
Is that thing taking you in the direction of holiness and righteousness?
Are you finding yourself in dark places called, procrastination, hesitation, lost, uncertainty, indecisiveness, weakness, hopelessness, sick and tired of being sick and tired, doubt, stress, worry, faithlessness, or desiring more? If the answer is yes, please know that this is not God’s best for our life.
Jesus informs us in John 8:12 (NKJV) that He is “…the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” Our search should be to be where God is…”And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart,” (Jeremiah 29:13, NKJV). There is further confirmation that when we want righteousness, we can have it, Matthew 5:6 says “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” I love that! Why should we strive to get to the place of holiness? I am glad you asked, the answer is simple and powerful, “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy." It is God who calls us to holiness, for truly there are benefits to holiness. I am so excited to share it, Isaiah 35:8-10, “A highway shall be there, and a road, And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, But it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool, Shall not go astray. No lion shall be there, Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it; It shall not be found there. But the redeemed shall walk there, And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”
Lord lead us to Holiness and Righteousness, we pray that we all will have a heart willing to go there, that we will lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
We acknowledge that “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” We will “trust in the Lord with all of our heart, and lean not our own understanding; In all of our ways we will acknowledge you and you shall direct our paths. We will “…keep the commands of the Lord our God by walking in His ways and fearing Him.” We pray now that we will arrive to the places called holiness and righteousness in the name of Jesus! We will not be discouraged, because we know that you know what is best for us and necessary to be a righteous and holy people. Help us to accept that everything, and everyone is not meant to go where you are taking us.
Amen.
Allow God to lead, Believe Him, Love Him, and Obey Him!
