Yesterday's Time

Think, Internalize, Meditate, & Employ

What is it Lord that you would have me to do today?

How can I position myself to accomplish all that You desire me to on this day?

These are questions that I asked the Lord today. You see, I didn’t get a chance to ask yesterday because my day started out in a rush rather than with time to spare. In all honesty, yesterday was a chaotic blur; I know that I accomplished some things, but not as much as if I had started my day on time. I don’t want to experience this anymore. Its amazing the difference that a day makes because my Saturday was quite enjoyable.

Each day has purpose and it is our responsibility to get with God to learn it. Then "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass, (Psalm 37:5).

He gave us 24 hours in a day, and sometimes it seems that we still don’t get things done. When the end of the day expires, we wonder, where did our day go? Let’s not even talk about proper rest.

Having proper rest enables us to fulfill and proclaim as David did Psalm 63:1 “O God, thou art my God; Early will I seek thee.”

Seeking the Lord early in the morning when we wake is a good time to gain instructions for our day. David told us in Psalm 16:11 (NLT) that God “will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” If He showed this to David, I believe He will show it to us. There is no stressing, rushing, chaos in God’s presence, but a demonstration of “the pleasures of living” with Him forever. I think that is totally worth going to bed on time for. What do you think?

Start your day with God

As we spend this intimate time with God, it’s an opportunity to experience His love towards us, and for us to share our love with Him. Further, God will “show us the way of life.” This is the point I want to get to. As we allow God to “show us the way of life,” we will learn what He would have us to do with our time.

Should you go to a fast food restaurant on your lunch break, or should you fast for an hour and read God’s word?

“It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).”

Should you call sister or brother so n so on the phone, or should you seek God’s voice?

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).”

Should you watch the soap operas or should you use that time to evangelize, visit the sick or minister unto the less fortunate?

“And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold [water] only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward (Matthew 10:42).”

Let’s evaluate where we are spending time and cut that spending as God would require, so that He may be glorified in our daily lives.

Let your light so shine before me, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven, (Matthew 5:16).

The act of allowing God to order our day makes for a more productive, structured, and purpose filled day - for us and for those we encounter and it brings glory to God.

Take time to experience this, just as I plan to do today.

Believe, Love, Obey God
