Positioned for Purpose
Dear Brothers and Sisters, I have missed sharing with you. Please keep me in your prayers as I will keep you in mine. ~Tanika
Have you ever thought about the importance of your spiritual, mental, or physical position in the life of others? I recently realized that my position is very important, more important than I ever thought.
Imagine being in a relay race. There are usually four runners in a 4x100 meter relay, each comes with his/her own unique abilities, and they are placed in their positions accordingly for the greater good of the team which is to win the event. Each individual must understand his/her purpose in the race and demonstrate a commitment towards one another so that each runner can fulfill their responsibility to the team so that they can reach their destination and obtain the reward.
We all have a purpose in this life. Our ability to make the distinction of what our position should be is important. As we set our heart and mind on God’s word and hear His instructions, we become better positioned to serve in the capacity in which He desires to use us. God’s word is life-changing. Even as we allow His word to change us, the lives of those around us can be changed. The Word renews our mind and allows us to see with new eyes. God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His ways are truly worth experiencing. I want to experience them, what about you?
Failure to listen to or seek God can brings storms. After all of the tossing to and fro, we look around at the damage and realize that we missed key moments and opportunities to be blessed by following God’s instructions.
We wonder what we could have done better to prevent certain situations. Many times the answer was right before us but we never (1) Slowed down to listen, (2) Turned the tv or phone off, (3) Woke up (instead we asked God for just a few more minutes of rest or said, “speak and I will remember in the morning).” We missed the special delivery of answers and solutions needed……bought by God himself. We were just busy busy busy! But we have to spend time in God’s presence.
The realization of lost opportunities always results in a magnification of our error and its impact on others. It’s not long before we realize that God’s way was REALLY the right way.
Positioning is important. Don’t let anything, anyone or situation deter you from doing what is RIGHTEOUS and getting what God wants you to have so that you can do what He needs you to do. I am so thankful for friends who pray when they say they pray - I feel their prayers. We must get in the Word so that we come to understand our purpose and the need to be positioned to fulfill that purpose. We each have unique abilities and graces upon our lives. Our ability to overcome many of life’s hardships depends on our familiarity with the Word and our willingness to get in God’s presence at the necessary time.
If we are not in position, some things may not get accomplished, questions may not get answered, unspoken request will go unfulfilled or time allotted for a specific task may expire. This does not only affect us, but it could affect those around us. We have to be careful to not become distracted by the wrong things but focus on that which is important position and purpose. When we are appropriately positioned and understand our purpose, our level of effectiveness is heightened and can accomplish great things.
Queen Esther was a great example of someone who understood her position and purpose.
(Read the book of Esther)
She could have become consumed with her position as Queen, the elegance and worry-free lifestyle it afforded her, but she didn’t. When she learned that her people, the Jews, were facing extirpation (Esther 4:5), she positioned herself so that she could help them, she examined the situation, she didn’t act out of emotion or self, but she prepared herself to deal with the situation by fasting (and even charged others to fast (Esther 4:15)), she needed a deeper experience with God. I believe in that time, she received answers from God on how to handle the issue at hand.
We must do the same. We can’t respond to everything with human emotion but understand that God has the answers for all that concerns us. Esther invited the King to a banquet (Esther 5:4); she even invited the enemy Haman (the one who plotted the demise of the Jews (see Esther 3:8)). She made her request known not out of emotion but out of her spirit. She was prepared for such a time as this. The very words she spoke, provoked the King to speak the very thing that needed to be spoken to bring an end to the issue that concerned her and Haman (the enemy) was destroyed right then and there (Read Esther 7:1-10). The very trap he designed to hurt someone else was the one he himself came face to face with to meet his death.
Carefully examining our actions to ensure that they line up with God’s word is essential. It’s all about positioning. Esther understood this. It’s all about understanding our purpose and not allowing anything to cause us to falter but using the access we have been granted to the King appropriately, not reacting emotionally rather a familiarity of God’s Word. This will help us to act more responsibly and understand that God is able to do all things.
We must always be in preparation (reading, studying, meditating, fasting, and praying) mode for whatever it is that God would have us to do, even when we have no knowledge of what that is. Preparation includes reading, studying, and meditating on the Word, it means being able to recognize time thieves, hindrances, distractions, wrong thoughts, actions, or behaviors. These are enemies of our soul designed to kill, steal, and destroy, but it shall not be so in the name of Jesus. I pray we learn to recognize our need to go to God for help, so that He can show us even more…..our purpose and how to position ourselves for that purpose.
