Revelation from my high heels...
I was preparing for work, the last task that I needed to complete to bring my attire together was put on my high heels. I wore these heels just a couple of days ago and I knew that I wanted to wear them today. I looked around my room and then remembered that I left them beside the shoe rack in another part of the house. When I went to retrieve them, I didn't see them. I stood pondering and then asked my oldest to check under the couch for my heels. No mom, "I do not see them." I was a bit confused because, I usually find my things (and everyone else's) pretty easy, especially my shoes. Not satisfied, but being mindful of my time, I settled on another pair of shoes for the day.
Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Later on, I decided to look for my heels again, I looked under the couch and...just a little ways out of clear sight, there were my heels! This is where you stop reading and start clapping, smile. I was relieved because I had thought about my lost heels often, throughout the day. As I rose, a thought dropped into my spirit, "you need to seek deeper, you need to look further." I had asked my oldest to look under the couch, but he didn't look as deep as he could have in order to find my heels.
How many times do we fail to look deeper and/or further to seek what God wants us to find? Have we grown so comfortable with surface knowledge that we do not want the deeper knowledge from God? Not to make this about my child, but we can all seek out wisdom, knowledge, understanding and solutions on a deeper level than what we have been looking for. Could he have looked a little harder for me? Yes. However, as the person who would be wearing the high heels, I felt some type of way after they weren't found by the person that I asked, instead of looking for myself. How many times do we want others to do the work for us? How many times do we allow the answers or feedback from others to stop our pursuits? I remember an occasion where my best friend and I were preparing to travel and the weather in the area that we were traveling to, was not the best, many people suggested that we not go, but after prayer and receiving peace regarding the situation- we went with the decision to go. When we arrived, the weather wasn't as bad as we initially thought or as others had shared. Sometimes the perspectives of others isn't the perspective that God wants us to have. No offense to those given us council at the time. Had we listened to everyone else, we would not have received the blessing that God had for us. Sometimes you need to press your way, despite what others say. Sometimes you will have to go through the mess to obtain the message.
What lessons did I learn from this?
1. Look for yourself.
2. Look deeper beyond what you can initially see.
3. Ask God to show you what you need to see and give you the PATIENCE to wait.
4. Do not always expect what is IMPORTANT to you, to be just as IMPORTANT to others.
5. If you know that God has spoken a thing or made a promise to you, do not stop your pursuit of it.
6. As children of God, when He tells us to go, we need to go. Everything will not be in plain sight.
We will have to pray and stay in a position of SEEKING to obtain what He has for us.
7. It is ok to take a second look.
8. If you do not have peace with something, keep praying until you obtain your peace.
Last but not least, I love God and I love how He speaks to me.
Blessings,
Tanika
