The readers will win...
As a writer, you hope that people will read what you spend time writing. This is not an unrealistic expectation, but- everyone doesn't like to read.
This post is not about my son, but I am going to share that he reads all day, anywhere and everywhere. When he was small, he asked a lot of questions. I was SO happy when he finally went to school because it helped to provide some leverage, smile. Now he is an avid reader, his strategy for acquiring knowledge has become sharper and from that, his interests and questions will be targeted at whoever is around him. He will ask you questions about things that he has learned to see if YOU know the answer, lol. This is funny to me. I have learned a lot of fascinating facts about things that I have known about all my life and here is this child, coming and educating me on 'details' of many of those things. The readers will win. They will win the positions. They will win at acquiring the understanding. They will win at demonstrating scholarship of the knowledge that they feed their brains. They will win at making wise decisions that can not be undone. They will win and not perish.
I was at an appointment with my oldest son recently and in the space we were in, there were fifteen other individuals. As I scanned the room, I counted thirteen people with their faces planted in their cellphones (yes, I was one of the thirteen), two of the people were reading books. They were not just scanning over the content, their eyes and attention were deeply focused on the words. While others were 'possibly' feeding their brains less important information - I could see the readers winning by positioning themselves for the more that would soon be their portion.
An abundance of what we need to rid ourselves of uncertainty, fear and ambiguity can be found through reading. I love reading the Word of God. It tells me the promises concerning my life. It gives me directions to follow when I become lost or in need. It encourages me to know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It reminds me not to faint or to be weary while doing well. It tells of how Jesus came and defeated, death, hell and the grave, so when I need convincing - I can review this information. The word restores my soul when I feel down to nothing. The word activates the power within me to be true, authentic and discipline. The word of God emboldens me to stand in the face of adversity, even my own shortcomings and believe that God will bring things into alignment, in His way and in His timing. The word of God covers and protects me - I would have fainted, lest I believe to see the goodness of the Lord! The readers will win because when you read the Word of God, there is a transference of power, grace, favor, love, revelation, patience and light. There is so much available to those who would read and seek understanding!
The readers will win...that's my story and I am sticking to it.
Sweet blessings,
Tanika
