You are worth the labor...
It's Labor Day 2021 and I, like you, experienced the annual opportunity to spend the day doing, whatever I wanted.
I was uncertain as to how the day would go, yet, I knew that I wanted to give myself intentional moments, that would promote well-being, within every aspect of my existence. In brief, chose to become the moment or occasion of which I directed my focus. That probably sounds selfish, huh? Well, it's not meant to be.
I want you to consider the importance of taking a moment and laboring to ensure that YOU are good. Let's read this scripture together, 3 John 1:2, "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well." Geez, I love this. Did you take a moment today, to check on your soul or to ask God to show you the condition of your soul? It is so tempting to run into the busyness of life, social media, the phone, the tv and even cleaning your home - that you could forget all about YOU. Are you checking on yourself? Our soul is important and has to be maintained so that we can experience GOOD HEALTH and GOOD OUTCOMES in our individual lives.
As a person who loves interacting with others, speaking and chatting it up with those in my people group, I still need a moment to have a moment. When I recognize that I need to reset, I retreat. It isn't that I am being selfish, I have only learned that I must get what I need in order to progress forward. You can't run yourself into the ground or spread yourself thin and think that you are going to win at this event called life- it is not possible. You have to allow yourself to indulge in wellness and soul cleansing.
It is easy to find activities to participate in in these days, because something is ALWAYS in motion. Not to say that theses things aren't worthwhile, but there is power in being still, and laboring to see if you are well rested, in alignment, maximizing opportunities, loving yourself properly, not carrying any excess concerns and giving your mind, body, and soul time to recharge.
The invitation to indulge in life is a standing invitation, however, so is the invitation to REST. If you didn't get the opportunity, let me encourage you to do so, frequently and without apology.
- Rest so you can focus on your personal life's mission, purpose, position and goals.
- Establish a routine that allows you to recharge, reset and refresh regularly.
- Spend quality time with those who remind you of peace and serenity and the beauty and blessings of life.
- Transform into the person that God has called you to be by allowing Him to renew your mind daily through the activities of prayer, praise, worship and studying the Word.
Be free,
Tanika
